Welcome to the May 2025 edition of Ensemble.

We know from our feedback, that you love people stories. This month, we celebrate the personal achievements of some of our colleagues who have been on some incredible overseas journeys recently. You can read all about their stories in this edition. It’s lovely to see colleagues achieving big things outside of work time, and I’m sure you’ll find their stories inspiring.

At the end of April, I delivered the keynote at The Stage’s Future of Theatre 2025 Conference in London. The theme for this year’s event was ‘survival’ and at a time when so many odds seem stacked against theatre, it has perhaps never felt more urgent – or more valuable – to come together as a sector to think, share and plan for the road ahead. There was an insightful session looking at how theatres can manage crises, particularly in a world where everyone has a say on social media, and a fascinating panel looking at freedom of speech. 

It’s been an exciting month for our newest venue, Bradford Live, as we announced the on-sale for the first wave of shows. Things are off to a great start and the early signs are encouraging that customers will love the venue as much as we do. And we received a very special visit from His Majesty King Charles and Her Majesty Queen Camilla last Thursday as part of a wider tour of Bradford UK City of Culture.

Finally, the Imagine Theatre team officially opened their brand new headquarters in Coventry, as preparations get underway for panto season!
