WELCOME – APRIL 2026

Dear All,

Welcome to the April 2026 edition of Ensemble.

First and foremost, huge congratulations to Sarah and Steve Boden and all the Imagine Theatre team on their fantastic successes at the UK Pantomime Awards. These wins are a wonderful recognition of the creativity, hard work and commitment that go into delivering truly memorable productions year after year. I’d also like to offer special congratulations to Chris Jordan on his company’s well‑deserved award win — a great achievement.

Howard and I are currently in New York where The Rocky Horror Show is proving to be a sensational hit at Studio 54 on Broadway, drawing packed houses and generating a palpable buzz throughout its run. Glowing reviews and recognition as Critic’s Pick in the New York Times, confirms Rocky’s status as one of the most joyful and talked-about theatrical events. Here we are at last night’s press night with TE shareholders Ron and Stephanie Kramer

I’m delighted to share the news that Oliver Stacey has been appointed as the new Venue Director of Southend Theatres, effective from 1st May. Oliver has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, professionalism and dedication during his time in Southend, and I am confident he will bring these qualities to great effect in his new role. At the same time, I would like to thank Nick Parr for his many contributions over the years and wish him every success and happiness in his new role as CEO of The Abbey Centre in Westminster.

There’s also much to be excited about on the programming front. We are thrilled to announce the full cast for High Society, led by the wonderful Helen George. Helen is joined by stage and screen favourites Felicity KendalFreddie Fox, and Julian Ovenden, alongside Carly Mercedes Dyer, Nigel Lindsay and Malcolm Sinclair. This production promises to be something very special. And further afield, it’s great to see the announcement of Amadeus coming to New Theatre Cardiff, produced by Michael Sheen’s Welsh National Theatre company.

The team in Dartford have announced their launch season as the countdown to reopening the Orchard Theatre continues, Fareham Live reveals details of a wonderful new initiative aimed at making theatre more accessible and affordable for school children, and Theatre Royal Sydney hosts a special celebration to mark the venue’s 50th Anniversary.

Finally, as the month begins, I’d like to wish everyone a very happy and restful May Bank Holiday. Thank you all for your continued hard work, passion and commitment — it truly makes a difference.

Enjoy reading this month’s Ensemble, and until next time, take care of yourselves.

Best wishes
Rosemary
