HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!

June is Pride Month, and there’s lots of activity happening across the Group. Here are some highlights!

PRIDE IN SWINDON

On 11 June, the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon co-hosted a Drag Time Story Hour for children with Swindon and Wiltshire Pride with a fabulous storytelling drag performer reading some exciting stories in a glorious and unique story time show.

Swindon Theatres will also be a Swindon Pride Partner for their August Pride event. The team are proud to support this and are very lucky to have their Rainbow Walk – an inclusive stairway which leads to the Theatre Square. Rainbow Walk was installed by Swindon and Wiltshire Pride & Friends. It represents Swindon’s continuing commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity for the LGBTQ+ community.

DARTFORD PRIDE RETURNS!

Following much anticipation, The Orchard Theatre, in Partnership with Dartford Borough Council, presents Dartford Pride 2023.

This is the second year of Dartford Pride after it first launched in July 2022. This year’s Pride takes place on 22 July.

The event is a fantastic platform to represent and support the local LGBTQIA+ community and takes place outside The Orchard Theatre, with an outdoor stage and live performances.

Leader of Dartford Borough Council Jeremy Kite MBE said: “Our Dartford Pride event had a fantastic first year last summer and we couldn’t be happier to be working with The Orchard Theatre again this year. We have a wonderful LGBTQIA+ community in Dartford, I want this to be an amazing event for them and for the whole community.”

CHISWICK COMMUNITY SPIRIT

The Chiswick Cinema has been continuing its support for the West London Queer Project (WLQP) by sponsoring its Pride events this June.

WLQP kicked things off with a ‘10k Walk and Celebration’ in aid of Motor Neurone Disease. The commemorative tees look fabulous, and The Chiswick is one of three sponsors on the shirt.

STRANGE LOOP SPOTTING!

What better time for A Strange Loop to open in London than during Pride Month!

And while Ryan Woods from London Theatre Direct was attending the UK’s best pop festival – Mighty Hoopla – in London last weekend, look what he spotted on the hoardings! Only a nice bit of advertising for our highly anticipated summer show! Good spotting, Ryan!
