THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT!
There is a long history of theatres being haunted and theatres in the Trafalgar group are no exception. In the lead up to Halloween, we take a look at venues in the group and their non-ticket holding residents!
CREWE LYCEUM
The Lyceum in Crewe is the most haunted in the group; A Monk, a Lady in White/Ballerina, the ‘Lost Child’ and the Forgotten Actor are all residents of the Lyceum. Recent sightings include the Lady in White on the Circle level, and a small child who only seems to appear when there are other children present in the venue. The child could well be connected with the nursery that was attached to the old chapel, previously on the same site. A local Psychic said that the Actor holds a cigarette in a cigarette holder and wears a long cape – looking very menacing.
WYCOMBE SWAN
There’s one visitor to Wycombe Swan who apparently doesn’t need a ticket! The historic Oak Room in our Old Town Hall is said to be haunted by a mysterious woman dressed in Tudor clothing, who has reportedly been seen walking between the room’s pillars. Our ghostly resident has even had her moment on television, with Jack Osbourne visiting the Swan in 2022 to investigate the venue’s paranormal activity for his series Jack Osbourne’s Haunted Homecoming (above). The Swan featured in the episode The Swan and Royal Standard, with Jack speaking to current and former members of the team about some of the unexplained things they’ve experienced over the years.
NEW THEATRE CARDIFF
A young woman from the 1920’s who used to attend every Thursday night with her ‘gentleman friend’ is seen on a regular basis. Most recently, seen sitting in a box by Jodi Comer during her performance of Prima Facie. There is also a ‘playful’ poltergeist who resides in one of the dressing rooms who takes pleasure in delaying the show by locking performers in that dressing room.
GLASGOW PAVILION
An old woman, a dancer who burnt to death and an old variety performer feature among the residents of the Pavilion Theatre, Glasgow. The old variety performer’s ashes were found in the attic of the theatre a few years ago with superstition saying they should never be moved. Next month, find out what happened at the venue when they were moved … and why they still remain in the attic!
