EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: HOPE WARD-BROWN

Welcome to our monthly who’s who of Trafalgar Entertainment. This month we say hello to Hope Ward-Brown!

Which room do you currently work in at home and what do you do?
I’m Assistant Producer for JCTP… and normally found at the kitchen table, which is closer to the kettle than the spare room with the desk that I also share with my housemate, so it has its advantages.

Describe yourself in 3 words!
Optimistic, organised and… reluctant to conform to too many things?!

Any New Year’s resolutions?
Pah! Not this year. I waved goodbye to those this year, we shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves at the moment. They’re always the same anyway – drink more water and run a marathon or something ridiculous.

Favourite stage production and why?
Hmm, definitely my favourite show I’ve worked on was A Monster Calls, which was cut short due to Covid last year, but I’m crossing fingers it might not be the last of it. A few plays spring to mind – John by Annie Baker and Faith, Hope and Charity at the National, The Jungle at the Young Vic.. and plenty more. They were all full of ‘pin drop’ moments, brilliant writing and totally transportive.

Favourite album?
I definitely can’t choose just one but I’ve been listening a lot to Michael Kiwanuka who won the Mercury Music prize in 2020.

Best ever gig?
I went to see New Order at Ally Pally a couple of years ago which was pretty magical! I was the youngest person there by a few decades and it was brilliant.

Top 3 films of all time?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Phantom Thread and maybe something a bit cheerier that makes me sound less serious.. Bridget Jones?

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I travelled around Peru a few years ago and adored it. The landscape is extremely diverse, from rainforest to deserts, and the culture is fascinating. I’d love to go back!

Your Greatest sporting achievement?
I was actually a British Indoor Rowing Champion for a very brief period of time a few years ago.. I think my title lasted about 3 weeks but it was fun whilst it lasted!

What’s your cooking masterpiece?
I did an Indian Cookery course and make a mean Saag Paneer. It’s been a blessing to avoid too many takeaways..

Who is your hero and why?
I’m quite fond of Helen Sharman who was the first British astronaut in space and she was EVEN a WOMAN. She was interviewed last year in the Guardian and is pretty darn inspiring. Read the interview here:
