EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: GEOFFREY MUGFORD
Welcome to our monthly who’s who of Trafalgar Entertainment. This month we say hello to Geoffrey Mugford!
Which room do you currently work in at home and what do you do?
I currently work in my living room, mostly from the sofa and sometimes on the dinner table when it gets intense. It’s not really by choice, but my wife called dibs on the desk in the study, and we all know dibs is sacred.
As to what I do, I’m the operations manager at Trafalgar Releasing, which means my main responsibility is to look at the way we work together as a team and improve it. This might be by streamlining processes, or by finding out the next cool software that will give us an edge.
Describe yourself in 3 words!
Non-stop Creative Geek
Favourite stage production and why?
I’ve seen wonderful, intricate productions on the West End that truly impressed and dazzled me, with the latest being Horwood’s adaptation of Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of The Lane. Still, nothing’s ever come close to an intimate performance of Alfred de Musset’s No Trifling With Love I once saw in an underground theater in Paris.
Favourite album?
Tool’s Fear Inoculum. After a 13 years wait, there were a lot of expectations for this one. So much respect for managing to deliver on those expectations!
Best ever gig?
London O2 Muse Drones World Tour. With a concept album, they really went to town on this and made a full blown story come to life. It was such an amazing spectacle!
Top 3 films of all time?
Really tough to pick only three…
I’m a big Christopher Nolan fan, but if I have to pick one, that’d be Inception for the mix between character-work and big screen spectacle.
Similarly, hard to pick amongst Miyazaki’s works, but Princess Mononoke holds a special place in my heart since childhood.
Lastly, Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind still mind-blows me to this day.
What’s your go to TV binge boxset?
Used to be Game Of Thrones until they ruined it with the last season. I guess the one that never disappoints is Gilmore Girls.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
My dream holiday destination would be Japan!
Your Greatest sporting achievement?
Nothing recent, I’m afraid I’ve become very domesticated. Used to be pretty good at skiing though, winning the silver arrow in the speed certifications.
What’s your cooking masterpiece?
Have you heard of the Swedish sandwich cake? It looks like a cake, but it’s actually a triple stack sandwich under the hood. It’s glorious and we’re absolutely obsessed with it. We only managed to pull it off once though.
Who is your hero and why?
I guess my mother would be the closest thing I have to a role model. I’m fascinated by her eclectic career path. She started as a flight attendant, then got into marketing, rising to CMO. She then became a consultant in Knowledge Management opening her own business. After a while she proceeded to learn aromatherapy & Chinese acupuncture, giving treatments to patients. And now she’s fully reconverted into a pastry chef and chocolate maker. I’m
not sure she’s ever going to retire to be honest, so what next I wonder?
