AND THE AWARD GOES TO!…

It’s Awards Season! So, we thought we’d ask TE staff if they’d ever won an award and what it was for!

MICKY SCOTT – WYCOMBE SWAN
I was awarded The Queen Scouts Award when I was 19. This is the highest award you can achieve in the Scout Movement, and it was knighted by The Queen so if I want to be really fancy, my full name is actually Michaela Scott QS (like people who have an MBE). To gain this award, I had to achieve my Duke of Edinburgh Gold, lead a project for young people which has a positive impact on the environment, lead a project that reflects on different faiths and diversity and do at least a week away, either volunteering or gaining a new skill.

I received my award at a special ceremony at Windsor Castle on St George’s Day. We spent the morning at the Barracks learning how to march (I was on crutches at the time so I got to sit and be The Queen, making sure everyone saluted as they marched past). After, we went to the Quadrangle in the Grounds of Windsor Castle, where we met some important people before having a service in The Chapel on the grounds. It was a special day and something that I am proud of.

LAUREN HODGSON – STAGECOACH
In a previous role, I won a Recruitment Marketing Award for my efforts in taking an interactive recruitment product to market. More recently, I posed with my “Olivier Award” at Musical Con. See below!

SIAN MCBRIDE – WYCOMBE SWAN
BFR Club Championship – Scored the maximum number of points available across 4 distances (5k, 10k, 10mile, and Half Marathon) to claim the Club Championship, unfortunately, the bar staff wouldn’t take the award as payment!

Yatley 10k – The photo below (right) was taken seconds after the world’s sweatiest handshake, just after I ran a 10k PB and placed 3rd female.

Blue Peter Badge – I won a Blue Peter Badge when I was younger for a short story about cowboys. This is still my highest literary achievement, though I’m waiting for the call from Netflix any day now…

BRIONY TANNER – STAGECOACH
Back in 2016 while working at a cinema as a projectionist, I won Marketer of the Year for a social media campaign that I ran for the screening of an Andre Rieu performance in partnership with More2screen. You could say this was the start of my life in marketing and it was this award that helped me get in to Film School (to do marketing, not make films) with a full scholarship! No photo of the award but here is me at film school (below) with Gromit (it was the National Film and TV School after all!)

KAY HADLEY – ORCHARD THEATRE
From building up the courage to attend my first karate class, to having now passed my 2nd grading, it’s a proud moment for me when my Sensei shakes my hand and awards me with a new belt and certificate. Black belt here I come!

MATT HOLT – TRAFALGAR TICKETS

I was put up as a nominee for the exceptional skills award in the first annual Dartford Business awards for my work in group sales within The Orchard Theatre and for my work in building and maintaining relationships with the local business community by attending and hosting events in and around Dartford. The first Dartford business awards were held in Bluewater with a circus themed evening and the group of us that attended had lot so fun. It was lovely to see my work recognised within the community and to walk away with the award for exceptional skills.

DEBORAH BUTTERWORTH – CHURCHILL THEATRE, BROMLEY 17 May 1995 – Quest for Excellence Award. The company had an awards system based on their company values.  Nominations were submitted by your peers to a panel of judges who would then select Gold, Silver & Bronze winners.  From memory there were quarterly awards with an annual award winners lunch.
