WELCOME – OCTOBER 2019
Welcome to the October edition of Ensemble.
It’s been a busy couple of months with the arrival of some new faces to the Trafalgar Entertainment family. We were obviously very excited to announce the launch of Jonathan Church Theatre Productions, with Jonathan Church as Artistic Director and Hope Ward-Brown as Assistant Producer. We also welcomed Serena Hill to The Strand office as the very first Casting Director for Trafalgar Theatre Productions. A very warm welcome to Jonathan, Hope and Serena, who I’m sure you’ll all get to meet very soon.
On the production front, The King and I returned to UK shores following a sell-out season in Toyko and press reviews from Edinburgh have been glowing. A Day in the Death of Joe Egg received critical-acclaim following its press night at the start of the month and anticipation continues to build for A Taste of Honey with Jodie Prenger which opens at Trafalgar Studios in December. The venue also announced its very first pantomime, but one with a difference… this Cinderella is getting a drag makeover!
Next month sees the launch of the company’s Vision and Values at the Management Away Day in London. This project began as a series of workshops and interviews that were held at Trafalgar Studios throughout the summer where colleagues were invited to give their views on the company and its future goals and aspirations. We can’t wait to share the results with you and we will be issuing a special edition of Ensemble at the beginning of December.
Finally, congratulations to Arinzé Kene winner of Best Actor in a Play for Misty and Shelley Maxwell winner of Best Choreographer for Equus at the Black British Theatre Awards on Sunday night. Also, congratulations to the team behind Equus, winner of Best Play Revival at the UK Theatre Awards 2019. The awards ceremony was hosted by none other than A Taste of Honey star Jodie Prenger in London on Sunday.
Best wishes
Rosemary
