WELCOME – MARCH 2023

Dear All,

Welcome to the March edition of Ensemble. I hope you’re all keeping well.

We start with some exciting news and the announcement of our big summer musical for 2023 – A Strange Loop, for a one-time, limited season at London’s Barbican Theatre. This ground-breaking, critically-acclaimed, Pulitzer Prize winning show is going to be unmissable this summer.

Producing a summer residency is becoming something of a tradition for Trafalgar Entertainment, and we hope that A Strange Loop will follow in the huge footsteps of The King and I and Anything Goes. Speaking of which, don’t forget that our 2021 five star production of Anything Goes starring Sutton Foster is returning to cinemas next week (15/19 March) courtesy of Trafalgar Releasing

International Women’s Day was celebrated around the world again last week, and I was delighted to attend a special lunch organised by our PR agency, BLJ. The lunch was hosted by Eve Pollard OBE, English author, journalist and founder of Women in Journalism. Other guests included leaders from the charity sector, business, entrepreneurs and media. The theme of the lunch was #EmbraceEquity and looked at how we can create inclusivity in the workplace for all women, something I have strived to achieve for colleagues throughout my entire career.

The Rocky Horror Show has kicked off its 50th anniversary celebrations in true style at Theatre Royal Sydney. It’s the longest continuous run of a contemporary musical anywhere in the world and Rocky fans will have plenty to look forward to in 2023!

In other exciting news, The Chiswick Cinema has been working with Porsche Chiswick who have sponsored the cinema’s bar – now renamed the Taycan Lounge. Read all about it in this newsletter.

And as revealed last week, huge congratulations to Jonathan Church and Trafalgar Theatre Productions for their Olivier Awards nominations. Jonathan’s co-production of the Chichester Festival Theatre’s critically acclaimed landmark production of South Pacific was nominated for Best Musical Revival and it was a hattrick for Trafalgar Theatre Productions’ co-production of GOOD starring David Tennant which received three nominations.

Finally, on the 20 March, we’ll be holding our annual Management Away Day at G Live in Guildford. The theme for this year’s event is Excellence, and we’ll have a full report from the day in next month’s Ensemble.

Until next time, take care of yourselves.
Best wishes,
Rosemary
