Dear All,

Welcome to the August 2026 edition of Ensemble.

We begin this month with the very sad news of the untimely passing of Neil Reading. Neil was a truly brilliant publicist and one of the most respected and talented people in our industry. We had the privilege of working with him for many years across Trafalgar productions and during our time at ATG. Neil instinctively understood our business, our productions and the way we worked.

He was a key part of our team when planning new productions, always ready with an insightful opinion or a lateral thought about how to launch a campaign. Beyond his professional expertise, Neil was a valued friend to many of us, and he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts remain with his wife Claire, young daughter Rosa, and all who knew and loved him.

Elsewhere in this issue, we catch up with our very own Liam McLaughlin, who tells us more about his charity, Just Add Milk, which provides access, support and opportunities for working-class actors pursuing careers in the theatre industry. It is an inspiring initiative, and we are delighted to share Liam’s story and the important work the charity is doing.

We have also recently announced a new safeguarding role within the business, and you can read more about this important appointment and our ongoing commitment to creating safe and supportive environments across the Group in this edition.

Sustainability continues to be a major focus for us, and I am delighted to report that all TE venues across the Group have now achieved certification against the Theatre Green Book Basic Standard for Operations and Buildings. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work and commitment of teams right across the organisation.

There has also been plenty happening across our Production and Event Cinema businesses. We recently held the press night for Death Note the Musical, while Imagine Theatre announced La Voix’s biggest tour to date, which will visit theatres around the UK – including all TE venues – in 2027.

Meanwhile, Trafalgar Releasing has some exciting projects on the horizon, including releases featuring Katy Perry and Linkin Park, both of which are sure to be hugely popular with music fans.

Our venues are currently in the midst of another incredibly successful Summer Youth Project season. It is always inspiring to see so many young people developing their confidence, skills and passion for theatre through these programmes, and we look forward to bringing you a full report next month.
