TEAM OF THE MONTH: THE CHISWICK CINEMA
Meet our brand new Team of the Month!
Where do you work and what do you do?
We’re the team at The Chiswick Cinema and we run TE’s first cinema complex!
What’s been the biggest challenge for the Team since the venue reopened post Covid?
Kathryn (General Manager) – We opened during Covid! So we had a short time to get to know each other and find our way of working together!
Fred (Technical/Duty Manager) – These were hard times. I think the worst part was how everyone wasn’t used to social interactions anymore, and obviously all that the pandemic left behind. Now that looks like it’s behind us, it’s strange thinking back on how much we struggled to contain the spread and all the extraordinary measures we had to put in place to ensure staff and customer safety. It was challenging I’m not going to lie.
How did National Cinema Day go for The Chiswick?
Kathryn – Amazing biggest day for admissions since we opened, the team worked together and the day went smoothly.
Fred – It couldn’t have gone better! The cinema was running at full capacity after a long time. We had 10 shows completely sold out throughout the day, and all the other screenings were almost full too. People enjoyed a variety of discounts and promotions alongside the discounted tickets that made it one of the best cinema experiences possible, the feedback was great!
What makes your Team work so well?
Kathryn – We all care about each other and want The Chiswick Cinema to be a huge success. This team goes above and beyond to do that, I’m very proud of them.
Fred – It must be how much we care about the project, and how much we look after all the members of the team. Opening this cinema together during one of the roughest times in the recent years just moulded us in a strongly bonded team with a shared vision and a certain taste for challenge.

Favourite stage production and why?
Kathryn – Anything Goes, it was a pleasure to have the cast for a Q&A at Chiswick. We held the world premiere of the filmed stage show, it was a collaborative effort from all of us under the Trafalgar Entertainment umbrella.
Fred – I’m a big fan of Hamilton, it surely is one of my favourite recent plays that I’ve really enjoyed. I just fell in love with the music really… And made me really curious about other Lin-Manuel Miranda productions too.
Favourite album?
Kathryn – Madonna’s Ray of Light
Fred – I think, one that I can’t stop listening too, must be Artic Monkeys’ AM album, and I’m looking forward to the next one!
Best ever gig?
Kathryn – Kylie’s Show Girl Tour
Fred – Must be one of the smallest one I have ever been to; the atmosphere was crazy. Was a Catatonia concert in jam-packed basement in Milan.
Top 3 films of all time?
Kathryn – Good Will Hunting, Dirty Dancing, Inception
Fred – Donnie Darko, Arrival, Pulp Fiction
Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?
Kathryn – Tom Cruise!
Fred – I’ve met James May from Top Gear. I’m sure he isn’t the most famous one but after having watched so many hours of his show it was such a weird and interesting experience having him in front of me.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Kathryn – Thailand! For the street food!
Fred – Back home in Siena (Italy). Get a villa just for me on top of a hill, relaxing and eating the best food, what more is there to ask for.
Who is your hero and why?
Kathryn – My mum. She taught me to always work hard and never give up!
Fred – I wish I had one. Not too late to look for one I guess, Maybe James May can become my hero, trashing cars in silly games sounds like what a hero would do. Do what you like and smile in the process would probably be his motto, and I would be down for it!
