People Update

Lorna Strawson, who recently returned from maternity leave, has been appointed as the new Theatre Director for Churchill Theatre Bromley. Lorna has had a successful tenure at the Orchard Theatre and before that at the White Rock. With a proven track record in securing grants and overseeing large projects Lorna is excited to be joining the Bromley Team.

As a result of Lorna moving over to Bromley, Tal Rosen will continue serving as Theatre Director for Orchard West/Orchard Theatre. Tal has demonstrated exceptional resilience and leadership in navigating the challenges faced by the discovery of RAAC in the Orchard Theatre last year which then led to the creation of Orchard West.

Frazer Hoyle, Regional Director, said: “Congratulations to Lorna and Tal on their new roles. I would also like to say a huge thank you to Matt Powder who has done such a fantastic job of managing the Churchill Theatre through some very challenging times over the last few months. He will continue to act up and support Lorna through March and April.”

A night to remember for Denis

Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club performed at the Beck Theatre Hayes recently and in the audience was super fan Denis Hughes who was celebrating a very special milestone… His 100th birthday! Denis has played with Ronnie Scott before and has met the band on two occasions.

Lynn Best, Customer Experience Manager Beck Theatre, said: “The band were lovely and managed to find pictures of Denis which they incorporated into the show. They have also invited him to attend the Jazz Club in London and made a real fuss of him. And we arranged a card and balloon from all the staff and left them on his seat as a surprise for when he walked into the auditorium.”

Denis said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the show, it was an amazing and memorable night on all levels. We were greeted by Fenella who was so friendly and made sure we were shown to our seats and comfortable before the show. The birthday card and 100th celebratory balloon were a lovely touch. And the band were so great incorporating me into the show, I felt like a celebrity!”
