TE AWAY DAY 2022
It’s been two long years since we were all together in one room. But last week it finally happened at the long-awaited Trafalgar Entertainment Away Day at the Swan Theatre and Old Town Hall in High Wycombe. A chance for people connect with colleagues old and new.
TE entered the pandemic with two theatre spaces and emerged with fifteen – including our first international theatre. A milestone that took ATG 22 years to achieve, and we pushed over the line in 5. We have grown incredibly rapidly but we are also more robust. And it was on this note that we kicked off our annual Away Day. An opportunity to look back, take stock and reflect on what had been achieved during the most challenging of times and to also look ahead.
Rosemary gave the opening address and then welcomed Julie Niedzwiecki – Managing Director, Private Equity/Assets at Barings and a member of our Board – to the stage for the keynote speech.
Howard then gave an overview of of the Group’s achievements, followed by Helen Enright and Alex Schmidt who looked at recent business highlights and Andrew Hill who talked about future acquisitions. The presentations concluded with Jo Scalpello and Vin Govender looking at TE’s latest digital developments and Chris McGuigan unveiling plans for a re-branding project.
Following a delicious lunch courtesy of the hospitality team led by Mark Hollington, the presentations reconvened focussing on three successful TE collaborations; examples of best practice projects across the company that have developed collaborative skills and benefited us all – Anything Goes presented by David Lazar and Marc Allenby; LTD’s Black Friday campaign courtesy of Ryan Woods and Marc Prethero; and finally a collaboration between Stagecoach and Beck Theatre, Hayes which was presented by Matt Clark and Steve Sargeant.
The afternoon brought a bit of fun and light relief with two mind-boggling Escape Room challenges that got teams working together, problem solving and getting to know each other!
The evening’s entertainment was compered by Anything Goes star Gary Wilmot who also treated guests to his infamous Tube station song! Gary introduced Students from Stagecoach Wolverhampton who gave an incredible performance of songs from Wicked, and the cast of Jersey Boys who performed a storming medley of hits from the show.
