PRODUCTION NEWS

The champagne is flowing, the standing ovations are thunderous and it’s the “five star “show of the summer” (Times) and ‘Cole Porter’s musical masterpiece’ High Society is “an eminently welcome, frothy antidote” (Telegraph) and now playing at the Barbican Theatre, ahead of its 20-week UK & Ireland tour.

With “poised, polished and studded with diamond performances from a top-notch cast” (Financial Times) including Helen George (Call the Midwife), Felicity Kendal (Rosemary and Thyme), Freddie Fox (Slow Horses), Julian Ovenden (South Pacific), Nigel Lindsay (Kiss Me, Kate) and Carly Mercedes Dyer (Anything Goes, A Chorus Line), High Society is “London’s favourite musical romantic comedy” (Classic FM) that sees the most glamorous wedding of the year descend into chaos, with old and new flames vying for attention as a sharp-eyed tabloid reporter hunts for scandal at a waterfront estate.

Brought to life by multi award-winning director Rachel Kavanaugh (Shadowlands, Half A Sixpence) and choreographer Anthony Van Laast (Kiss Me, Kate, Mamma Mia!), and with a live orchestra, this lavish production is overflowing with Cole Porter at his most irresistible – merging the beloved original score with the very best Porter has to offer including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Let’s Misbehave, I Love Paris, Well, Did You Evah!, True Love, and so much more.

At the High Society press night earlier this month, the corks were popping and the champagne flowing as we toasted opening night with Champagne Pommery, our official press night partner—pouring elegance into every glass and adding a little extra sparkle to an unforgettable evening!🥂✨🍾

And last week, Trafalgar Theatre Productions hosted a special High Society Venue Day at the Barbican, welcoming marketing teams from across the UK, who will be receiving the show as part of its huge UK & Ireland Tour. Presentations were led by Howard Panter, David Fearns, and Nick McCarthy, as well as the marketing and social teams for the production.
