TRAFALGAR CELEBRATES RECORD-BREAKING BARBICAN SEASON

Now Trafalgar’s Barbican season is finished for another year we are delighted to share some amazing news with you all!

  • The 2025 Barbican Summer was the highest grossing across the last 5 years with a combined gross of £8.9m (vs £8.7m for Anything Goes 2021) – both 15 playing weeks.

  • Fiddler on the Roof broke the record for the highest grossing single week – £723,443 on a 9 show week vs £717k for AG 2021.

  • Good Night, Oscar is now the 3rd highest grossing week at £669k (on a 7 show week).

  • Good Night, Oscar broke the the record 6 times for the highest grossing single performance, with the highest achieved being £102,752 as well as the highest ATP.

Carrying on the Fiddler good news, following last week it now holds the record for the highest grossing single week in Wycombe’s history – smashing the record held by Six by 15% (£393,245 vs £342,735 – over £50k more).

Positively, a significant chunk of that is driven by the increased ATP which was £9 up against Six at £52.27.

David Fearns, Production Marketing and Sales Director, said: “This year’s Barbican season has been a commercial and critical success, and we are thrilled at how well Fiddler on the Roof and Good Night, Oscar have performed at the box office. This timeless classic musical still demands to be seen in 2025 and has clearly resonated with audiences and critics. And congratulations to the team in Wycombe who have been incredibly focused and driven on this campaign and done a great job. We look forward to breaking more records in our venues moving forward!”

Nicola Anderson, Head of Campaign Management, said: “Running a campaign for September is no easy feat in Wycombe. We usually see the majority of sales for week-longs come in during the 12 weeks prior to opening. We are always trying to push this cycle earlier and it was imperative to bring sales forward for this campaign as our 12 week out period clashed with the summer holidays which is a notoriously slow sales period.

“Katie Lear responded to this by pulling the campaign earlier and timing activity to dovetail off press and positive reaction to the show when it was at the Barbican Centre. This proved very effective, giving us strong long-lead sales and creating a sense of urgency to book which allowed us to sustain momentum as we got closer to opening.”

Speaking about the video, VME Lauren Renyard, said: “Getting this video made was a great opportunity to showcase Wycombe Swan and High Wycombe in a fun and exciting new way — something we haven’t had the resources to do before. The drone shots offer a unique perspective of Wycombe and bring out a personality that still photos can’t capture as well. The video presents our venue and town in a dynamic, engaging way, with a storytelling element that keeps it feeling fresh.”
