On 29 November, Trafalgar Releasing is bringing the multi-award winning and critically acclaimed Lincoln Center Theater’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King And I live from London’s iconic Palladium Theatre to cinemas around the world.

Featuring one of the finest scores ever written including the much-loved Whistle a Happy Tune, Getting to Know You, and Shall We Dance, The King and I is comprised of a company of over 50 world-class performers.

We caught up with Marc Allenby from Trafalgar Releasing this month for a chat about event cinema.

Why do you think event cinema has grown in popularity?
Ultimately it serves an audience demand. Fans of theatre or a specific actor / musician enjoy a collective experience with fellow fans. 

Trafalgar Releasing is celebrating two box office successes this month with the big screen debuts of Coldplay and BTS. One of the world’s biggest bands, Coldplay were given the big screen treatment with A Head Full of Dreams from director, Mat Whitecross (Supersonic). Trafalgar Releasing distributed the film in over 70 countries worldwide on 14 November. The one night only engagement attracted more than 300,000 attendees with a global box office of over $3.5million and has become the top performing rock music event in cinemas worldwide in 2018.

We’re delighted to officially welcome Tim McFarlane and Andrew Hill to Trafalgar Entertainment Group. Tim has joined the TEG senior management team as Executive Chairman of Trafalgar Entertainment Asia-Pacific Pty Ltd and Andrew has been appointed as TEG Business Affairs Director. Tim commenced his role earlier this autumn and is based in Sydney, whilst Andrew joined the company on 1 November and works at our office on The Strand.
