GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY PREMIERES IN SYDNEY

The team at Theatre Royal Sydney were delighted to present the Australian Premiere of Girl From The North Country last weekend.

This is the second major premiere to be staged at Theatre Royal Sydney following the venue’s grand reopening with Jagged Little Pill in December.

Since opening at The Old Vic in London, Girl From The North Country has taken the theatrical world by storm, selling out seasons in the West End, Toronto, Public Theater New York and on Broadway, and is now one of the most critically acclaimed new productions of the 21st Century.

Written and directed by multi award-winner Conor McPherson (The Weir, The Seafarer) the legendary songs of Bob Dylan are boldly reimagined, like you’ve never heard them before.

An uplifting and joyful story of American life in 1934 Minnesota, where a group of wanderers cross paths at a guesthouse. Standing at a turning point in their lives, they realise nothing is what it seems, but as they search for a future, and hide from the past, they find themselves facing unspoken truths about the present.

Now, theatregoers in Sydney can experience this modern masterpiece for themselves during its strictly limited Australian Premiere season (as part of the 2022 Sydney Festival), capturing the hope and heartbreak as written by Dylan himself, “May your heart always be joyful. May your song always be sung.”
