In The Studio with… Aardman! Drama Kids first event in collaboration with Aardman

Drama Kids had its first event in association with Aardman Animations, in Chepstow on 17 November. Students took part in a workshop where they explored characterisation and how to craft a story using the specialist Drama Kids curriculum.

The second part of the workshop saw students creating their own clay model and storyboarding their ideas before creating their own mini-movie using Aardman’s animation app. Under the guidance of Jim Parkyn, an expert animator who has previously worked on Chicken Run (2000), The Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015) and various other Aardman projects during his 30 tenure with the company, they created their animations and presented them to the group.

Feedback from the event has been excellent with one parent saying, “My son had a fantastic time. The session was very inclusive, interesting and incredibly well organised.”

Further In The Studio events will be coming soon to the Drama Kids sphere, including a sword-fighting workshop in January themed around Act 1, Scene 1 of Romeo & Juliet, and an additional two Aardman workshops.

Drama Kids double-win at the SME News Awards 2024

Drama Kids are proud to be a double winner at the SME News Awards 2024. They won Best Drama School Franchisor 2024 in the Northern Enterprise Awards and an award for their developmental drama programme aimed at young people, Young Persons Development Excellence Award 2024.

These awards are a testament to the dedication of the Drama Kids team and the work that franchisees do in their local area to help young people to succeed. Congratulations everyone!
