FAREHAM LIVE OPENS WITH GLITTERING GALA EXTRAVAGANZA

Famous faces from the world of television, stage, and politics descended on Fareham Live on 1 October as Hampshire’s new multi-million-pound theatre opened its doors for a glittering gala event.

Helen George (Call the Midwife) and Sky TV presenter Hayley Palmer were among those spotted on the red carpet, as well as politicians Suella Braverman, Conservative MP for Fareham and Waterlooville, and Dame Caroline Dinenage, Conservative MP for Gosport, Stubbington, Lee-on-the-Solent, and Hill Head.

Dressed to impress for a special performance of the Rocky Horror Show, featuring 80s heartthrob Jason Donovan as the sensational Dr. Frank N. Furter, guests rubbed shoulders with fellow theatre enthusiasts while sipping glasses of fizz and enjoying delicious canapés expertly created by the theatre’s hospitality team.

A 360° video booth gave guests the chance to capture the evening in Instagram-ready style, while renowned drag artist Dixie Normous worked the red carpet, entertaining the crowds and providing some marvellous photo opportunities.

Guests also had the opportunity to view the council-commissioned ‘Wave of Thanks’ artwork, a tribute to the local community’s enduring support, which hangs proudly in the foyer. The unique installation offers a rare opportunity for supporters to become part of the building’s history by sponsoring a sound bar, each inscribed with the names of individuals, community groups, organisations, clubs, and businesses that have supported Fareham Live since its inception.

As the main performance was about to begin, guests were invited to take their seats in the 800-seat auditorium. Speeches were given by Dame Rosemary Squire (Joint CEO Trafalgar Entertainment), Helen Enright (CEO Trafalgar Theatres), Pal Hayre (Mayor of Fareham) and Simon Martin (Leader of Fareham Borough Council) before a spectacular glitter cannon kicked off the electrifying night, packed with iconic hits like ‘Dammit Janet,’ ‘Hot Patootie,’ and the unforgettable ‘Time Warp.’

Dame Rosemary Squire, Joint CEO of Trafalgar Entertainment, said: “Thank you Fareham for your support in the opening of Fareham Live. What a fantastic evening and a brilliant achievement for all – and what a wonderful way to celebrate. We’re looking forward to the future of this new venue and creating many more unforgettable nights out for you all.”

“Fareham Live is not just about big-name productions,” said Venue Director Gavin Shuman“We’re committed to fostering local talent and providing a platform for community groups to share their work. Our flexible studio spaces will host everything from children’s theatre workshops to community meetings, making Fareham Live a true cultural beacon for the people of Fareham.”

He added: “We cannot wait to welcome many more of you through our doors for all the brilliant shows coming over the upcoming seasons. This is only the beginning of something very special indeed.”
