EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: CLAIRE POLLEY
Where do you work and what do you do?
I am the Group Event Sales Manager for The Cliffs Pavilion Southend and G Live Guildford. My focus is driving, converting and retaining private hire sales across both venues, working with the programming team to ensure the right piece of business is secured. I manage all enquiries from initial contact through the various sales stages – quoting, negotiation, contracting, closing and follow-up, while building key accounts, client relationships and event agency partnerships.
I use every available space across the venues to promote and host a wide range of events, including weddings, conferences, awards, exhibitions, gala dinners, social celebrations and sporting events. I also love a bit of B2B networking—any excuse to talk to people, make successful connections and promote my amazing venues and the wider portfolio.

Any podcast recommendations?
My favourites at the moment are “The Rest is Football”, with Lineker, Shearer & Richards, “The Therapy Crouch” with Peter Crouch & Abbey Clancey and “Olivia’s House” with Olivia Attwood!… All slightly football & reality TV based ha!
Describe your perfect day off work.
My perfect day off would start with an unhurried trip to the gym, giving myself the morning to slow down and focus on me for a change, as I do have a habit of looking after everyone and doing everything for everyone else, but that’s just me. After that, I’d spend the day with my husband, two stepsons, family and friends – ideally relaxing in the sunshine, with good tunes, lovely food and a glass or two of New Zealand Sauvignon.

What’s the one thing you can’t leave the house without?
Wow just one thing … let’s go with my handbag … its literally full of all my essentials, phone, makeup, perfume, mints, diary, business cards and tissues… it’s a big handbag ha!
Your Greatest sporting achievement?
In my younger days, I was a tennis coach and represented Leicestershire at County Level in my twenties, winning the Ladies’ Doubles and Mixed Doubles three times. At my local club, I was Ladies’ Doubles Champion five times. More recently, I’ve taken up padel and completed a full year at the gym—and I’m actually enjoying it, that’s a huge achievement in itself!
Who is your hero and why?
I have 2 very different heroes –
After losing my mum when I was just 18, my amazing dad held our family together in every possible way and raised my sister and me with so much love, strength and devotion. He taught us the importance of family, respect and kindness. He continues to inspire and support us every day, and I feel incredibly lucky to have him. He truly is a legend.
My second is Jamie Vardy – The Red Bull drinking, Leicester City GOAT. He made the impossible possible, I’m a huge Leicester City Football Club Fan, and previous employee of the club, so Winning the Premier League & FA Cup was a 5000-1 dream come true.
Holiday plans for 2026?
I have been extremely lucky this year “My 50th Birthday” year, I’ve been to Budapest, Menorca Twice (my Dad lives there) and off to Sunny Malaga in September… Would love to take my 6-year-old niece to Lapland at Christmas but nothing booked as yet. I love a holiday, just call me Judith Chalmers… if you know, you know😉!
