EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: CHARLES HEWLITT

Where do you work and what do you do?
Hello there I’m Charles! I am the Theatre Administrator down south at Fareham Live. I’ve been the TA here for around six months but have been with the venue since July 2024, starting out as a Box Office and Stage Door receptionist. My role consists mainly of handling settlements and contracts, chasing people to complete their training and dealing with lots and lots of invoices.

Describe yourself in 3 words!
Adventurous, friendly and odd.

Favourite stage production and why?
Now that’s a tricky one as I’ve seen so much amazing live theatre. Hamilton, Touching the Void and Operation Mincemeat spring to mind but I think The Comedy about Spies by Mischief Theatre takes the cake. Without a doubt the funniest comedy I’ve seen on stage with such a clever set design to boot.

Top 3 favourite songs?
Venice Rooftops – Jesper Kyd
Iron – Woodkid
Kitty Kitty – De Staat

Top 3 films of all time?
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Mission Impossible: Fallout
Kung Fu Panda 2 (pure cinema)

What’s your cooking masterpiece?
Usually if the kitchen is still standing I consider that an achievement. However in my Uni days I did cook up some edible dishes which wouldn’t get the house shut down for a breach of Food Safety.

Your Greatest sporting achievement?
I was the undisputed egg and spoon race champion in primary school. Other sporting achievements have gone downhill ever since…

Who is your hero and why?
I will probably have to go with my Mom and Grandma as they have always been my biggest supporters on my journey. I’ve also inherited their dry sense of humour and terrible jokes so I do apologise to the rest of the Fareham Live team about this, especially those who share an office with me.

Holiday plans for 2026?
Heading to the island of Corfu in Greece for my birthday in July. Looking forward to doing nothing but having cocktails by the beach and swimming in the pools. Certainly beats the windy weather we’ve been having down here so far!
