EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: DAVE BRADBURY
Welcome to our monthly who’s who of Trafalgar Entertainment. This month we say hello to Dave Bradbury!
Which room do you currently work in at home and what do you do?
I work on my kitchen island in my open plan living room/kitchen/dining room! I’m currently PR and Comms Manager for TE.
Describe yourself in 3 words!
Happy, loyal, friendly
Favourite stage production and why?
Although I’m not a Harry Potter fan as such, I was lucky enough to attend the premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the special effects just blew my mind. I couldn’t believe what was happening on the stage in front of me. Overall I prefer plays to musicals. Seeing War Horse in my home town was just incredible and I remember being moved by the WWI play, Journey’s End. We did a press trip to the French battlefields for that show and it added so much depth to the experience.
Favourite album?
This is a difficult one because I love music and my life feels like a never-ending soundtrack. But my favourite album of all time has to be the 1996 classic Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers. They’re my favourite band too and I’ve probably seen them live around ten times. In fact, I saw the Manics perform this album live, in full, at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea, in 2016 as part of the album’s 20th anniversary tour. A Design for Life, Kevin Carter and Australia are all classic singles although every song on the album had single potential, from opening track Elvis Impersonator: Blackpool Pier to the delicate harp led Small Black Flowers That Grow in the Sky.
Best ever gig?
Again, another tough one! But this HAS to be Kylie’s Golden Tour at the Manchester Arena in 2018, only because we were right at the front by the side of the stage and Kylie waved at us! That wave was intended solely for me!
Top 3 films of all time?
This Top 3 has rarely changed in twenty years! So, in no particular order…
Jaws – It’s the ultimate movie. I remember first seeing this when I was about 4-years-old and I used to check under my bed to make sure the shark wasn’t there! I must have seen it over 100 times now!
Halloween – I LOVE the Halloween franchise but the original John Carpenter classic is the undisputed king!
2001: A Space Odyssey – Stanley Kubrick’s space opus just draws me in every time. Its imagery is iconic and its influence is far-reaching.
(And the runners up that occasionally make my top 3 are Close Encounters of the Third Kind, ET and John Carpenter’s The Fog!)

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Chris and I went to Florida for our honeymoon in 2017 and we did a road trip in a Mustang Convertible from Orlando, down to Miami and then across the Seven Mile Bridge to Key West. But I’ll never forget sailing out into the Gulf of Mexico on a catamaran and standing on a sand bar in ankle deep water, ten miles out at sea, with no land in sight, and just feeling like it was the best place on earth. We went back to Miami the following year for Chris’s 40th because we fell in love with the place so much. You’ve got the buzz of the city, the nightlife, golden beaches, the people and the tropical climate. It’s my favourite city in the world!

Your Greatest sporting achievement?
Probably a time when I was doing cross fit and running about six years ago and I felt at my peak fitness. I was in the gym 4 or 5 times a week and running as well, but the hours spent training paid off. Running my first official half marathon also felt good!
What’s your cooking masterpiece?
Spag Bol or a Sunday dinner.
Biggest regret in life?
Learning not to say NO to people years ago. Apart from that, I think everything in life happens for a reason and all the choices you make will either enrich your life or they won’t. If it’s the latter then you will learn from those experiences and move on to something better.
Who is your hero and why?
100% my Dad. He was one of nine brothers and sisters and grew up in a council house in Stoke-on-Trent. He put himself through college, worked hard and went on to become a Principal Scientist for the MOD, where he travelled the world and chaired NATO conferences. He taught me that you can achieve anything if you work hard enough and put your mind to it. He also gives great, honest advice and is the king of all knowledge and I trust everything he says. We nearly lost him two years ago (a terrible and terrifying time) due to sepsis and pneumonia, but he fought back and got through it. I’m thankful every day that he got a second chance and that we got more time together.
