EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: ALISON MAZANEC
Welcome to our monthly who’s who of Trafalgar Entertainment. This month we say hello to Alison Mazanec!
Where do you work and what do you do?
I am the Executive Trainer at the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy. Within this role I oversee the training and support of our UK and international franchisees, the supervision and development of our curriculum, and the overall management of the company. Following the recent acquisition, I am excited to now be part of the TE family!
Describe yourself in 3 words!
Effervescent, creative and short!
Favourite stage production and why?
Wicked as I love the costumes, story and the music makes my arm hairs want to leap out and dance. Having said that, my arm hairs regularly dance during musicals. Don’t yours?
Favourite album?
Sensual World by Kate Bush. Haunting, emotional and warming.
Best ever gig?
Sheesh, this is a tough one. Prince or Peter Gabriel or Shirley Bassey. You choose one!
Top 3 films of all time?
My Fair Lady, The Castle and Memoirs of a Geisha.
What’s your go to TV binge boxset?
I’d go crazy watching a whole boxset as I’d rather listen to music but I love watching interviews from days gone by with the old greats such as Liz Taylor, David Niven and Judy Garland and I’m addicted to Minuscule & SNL shorts.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Anywhere with a palm tree, a bar in a pool and somewhere to snorkel or a long weekend with a castle, museum, art gallery and some stone circles.
Your Greatest sporting achievement?
Staying upright on an inflatable pony in Paz and Val’s pool in my hometown of Perth, Australia. It’s difficult and hugely demanding but an absolute must each time I visit.
What’s your cooking masterpiece?
Prawn pasta – chorizo, chilli, sherry, garlic, saffron, tomatoes, humungous prawns, crème fraiche and pasta – fwooor.
Who is your hero and why?
It has to be Helen O’Grady, the founder of the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy because she taught me how our self-development drama programme can enrich the lives of children and empower them with the language skills and confidence to go out and face the world, have a voice, be the person they want to be and have self-love. That’s why I’m still with the same company over 30 years later (I was very young when I started…)
