Duncan Bennetts, Creative Studio Manager at Stagecoach, tells Ensemble about his music side project, Seajam Moths.

Back in February of this year, my friend and musical collaborator John and I, set ourselves the goal of writing, recording and releasing a collection of songs within a three-month timeframe – something we’d both been intending to do for years but never got round to actually doing: The curse of many an amateur musician!

We got together for a couple of songwriting sessions, thrashed out some ideas and then…bang! The pandemic struck. This scuppered our plans for a June release, but despite not being able to meet up, we had enough material to work with so started throwing ideas back and forth remotely. Fast-forward to November and Seajam Moths have finally produced a five-track EP we’re really thrilled with. In fact, the events of 2020 have been a great influence on how the songs have been shaped.

This has been an extremely challenging few months for all of us, but on a personal level, it will be good to able to reflect and know that I’ve achieved something to be proud of. And of course, crossed something off my to-do list!
