Trafalgar Entertainment has reached a significant sustainability milestone, with every venue across the Group now achieving certification against the Theatre Green Book Basic Standard for Operations and Buildings.

The achievement follows a successful pilot programme launched in 2025 at Churchill Theatre Bromley, Southend Theatres and G Live Guildford. Having demonstrated their commitment to sustainability best practice, the pilot venues achieved self-certification and helped pave the way for the scheme’s rollout across the wider group.

Theatre Green Book is the industry’s leading sustainability framework for the performing arts, helping organisations reduce their environmental impact through practical, measurable action. Trafalgar Entertainment became a founding supporter of the initiative last year as part of its commitment to more sustainable operations.  

To achieve certification, venues established green teams, embedded sustainability into day-to-day operations and introduced plans covering energy management, waste reduction, sustainable travel, food and beverage operations, and paper and digital consumption. Teams have improved recycling practices, completed waste audits, reduced reliance on single-use plastics, provided audiences with information on sustainable travel options, and implemented measures to monitor and reduce energy use. All venues have also switched to a green electricity supply.  

The programme has been supported by a number of Group-wide initiatives, including an overnight energy project which focuses on reducing energy consumption outside of operating hours. results have already delivered significant savings, with Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion reducing gas consumption by 50,000kWh over a two-month period, preventing more than nine tonnes of CO₂e emissions.
