TE NEWS

Trafalgar Theatres CEO Helen Enright recently spoke to the Glasgow Times about TE’s acquisition of the Glasgow Pavilion and the company’s future plans for the venue.

The Glasgow community has also “really opened its arms” to Trafalgar, says Helen. “It has felt like a warm welcome.”

“There is a lot of demand for this theatre, and we want to open our doors to everyone, to make this a welcoming place for audiences and artists.”

Assistant Producer, Will Grace, talks us through this year’s Olivier Awards ceremony!
This past Sunday was the 2024 Olivier Awards; the Trafalgar team donned their fanciest outfits to hit the green carpet at the Royal Albert Hall. There may have been one or two photos taken…

One of the highlights was getting to spend time with Michael R Jackson, the brilliant mind behind A Strange Loop. He flew in from the US with our Co-Producer, Barbara Whitman, and wowed the audience with a performance of “Memory Song” to open Act 2. It was a powerful reminder of how ground-breaking and important Trafalgar’s production at the Barbican was last summer.

Jonathan Church Theatre Productions had a big win with A Picture of Dorian Gray taking home two awards – Best Actress for Sarah Snook and Best Costume for Marg Horwell.

The festivities continued at the Natural History Museum for the after-party, where we mingled with industry colleagues and some famous faces like Nicole Scherzinger and Hannah Waddingham. It was a night filled with celebration and recognition for the incredible work happening in our industry.

Check out our brand-new website for the Trafalgar Entertainment Trust. The charity aims to widen access to arts within our communities for people of all ages, through life-changing participatory workshops, training opportunities, apprenticeships, and special events including children’s learning programmes, memory cafés, and industry development days.

ORCHARD TEAM HIT THE MARKETS

The promo team from Orchard West ventured out into Dartford Market recently, to reach out to the local community. On their stall, the team had photos from the build project of Orchard West, along with photos of the finished venue, brochures and flyers. They held ticket competitions and invited people to nip over to the temporary venue, where they could grab a free biscuit and a tour of the auditorium. Many people returned to the stall afterwards to say how impressed they were!

A few Southend staff members were lucky enough to be welcomed into Diversity’s Meet & Greet at the Cliffs Pavilion recently.

The street dance troupe, whose original members are all from south Essex, were performing a nine show stint in Southend as part of their Supernova Tour.

Sophie Holland, Southend Venue Marketing Executive, said: “The Diversity boys were lovely and friendly with all the staff, and everyone had a great time meeting the group!”
