CREATIVITY UNLEASHED AT TE AWAY DAY

It’s that time of year again! The annual TE Management Away Day took place at G Live in Guildford last month and focussed on another of TE’s core values – Creativity.

This year, colleagues listened to four case studies that are outstanding examples of creativity at Trafalgar Entertainment.

First up was Rob Anderson from Stagecoach who spoke about the company’s brand message that creativity builds confident and well-rounded young people. Next to present was Tal Rosen from Orchard West/Orchard Theatre who gave the inside story on the imaginative and supremely practical response to the now infamous RAAC crisis at Dartford.

Sarah and Steve Boden then took to the stage to talk about the creative processes that brought Imagine Theatre its best panto season to date including how Imagine is now using innovative new technology to enhance its panto sets.

Finally, Kymberli Frueh and Jamie Woglom from Trafalgar Releasing revealed how creative minds and a new way of working enabled TRL to bring the record-breaking Taylor Swift and Beyoncé to cinemas around the world in record time!

This year’s keynote speaker was academic and executive coach, Dr Jacqui Leaman-Grey. Jacqui was First Vice President EMEA for Merrill Lynch and Managing Director of the Neuro Leadership Institute among other senior roles.

She is now a sought-after lecturer and commentator, known for her ability to bring insights from Neuroscience and Philosophy research into work on innovative leadership programmes for FTSE 100 companies.

For the Away Day, Jacqui gave insight into the growth mindset and delivered a talk about the Neuroscience of Creativity.

Afternoon workshops gave attendees the opportunity to discuss three subjects – Inclusion, a Healthy workplace culture and Sustainability. Each group addressed the following areas.

  • How can we use what we’ve learned to be more creative in our approach to our topic?
  • How can we make a difference?
  • What are the challenges/barriers to success?
  • What solutions do we need to put in place long term and what quick wins might we take now?

Evening entertainment came courtesy of compere Jess Robinson with Pianist Greg Arrowsmith, and Kyle Birch from A Strange Loop. There were also performances from Stagecoach Colchester with The Ugly Duckling and Stagecoach Twickenham and Teddington with a Bridgerton/Lady Gaga themed dance!

Thanks to everyone for taking part with imagination and energy! Until next year!
