VENUE NEWS
Here’s our monthly round-up of news from the venue teams!
CREWE LYCEUM SQUARE
Crewe’s Lyceum Square (home to the Lyceum Theatre!) has been transformed into an exciting events and performance space, known as Ly2, and last month saw its official grand opening event.
The centre of Lyceum Square was fast becoming a mixed-use space to host events, festivals, performances, and activities throughout the year and during August’s Ly2 launch event, visitors celebrated in style with free performances and lots of entertainment on offer.
Award-winning, touring company Autin Dance Theatre were the centrepiece for the weekend’s big opening event, as they put on three performances of their outdoor physical theatre show ‘Out of the Deep Blue’, featuring ‘Eko’ – a 13-foot-tall puppet operated by five puppeteers.

The Creative Connections programme – which has seen arts activity at Ly2 every Saturday throughout the summer – has been funded by Arts Council England via National Lottery funds, Cheshire East Council and Crewe Town Council.

The vision for Ly2 was developed by the Crewe Cultural Forum – a collaboration of more than 100 residents, organisations and businesses in Crewe – and it aims to enhance the setting of the Lyceum Theatre and Crewe Market Hall and create a cultural heart for the town centre.
As well as a new raised events stage with an integrated digital screen, the new Ly2 scheme includes colourful and multi-functional street furniture and improvements to key gateways into the square. Artists have taken inspiration from Crewe’s railway heritage to create the stage and shed designs, as well as a huge eagle mural on ‘Crewe Central’ operated by the Crewe Market Hall team.

The Ly2 project was delivered by Cheshire East Council and overseen by Crewe Town Board with Crewe Town Council and Lyceum Theatre also key partners.
TAG TEAM!

A team of thrill seekers from the Woking office went out all guns blazing last week with a competitive game of laser tag in the town centre! The team comprised seven marketeers, two IT staff, two finance peeps and our office administrator, Sira! The top scorer was Robbie from IT!
CHANGING ROOMS

With G Live’s ongoing development and increased demand for private events, the team thought it was about time to show their Seminar Rooms some love over the quieter summer months, and have elevated them to ensure the environment matches the exceptional guest experience the G Live team provide.
The Comedy Room, Dance Room and Rock Room all acquired their names from hanging posters of artists G Live has hosted over the years, but they quickly become dated, so while keeping their identities and theatrical names, they now also come with added corporate flair.
If you would like to host an off-site meeting, or a venue away-day, please do get in touch with Brett Bartram [email protected] to arrange. The G Live team would love to host other Trafalgar colleagues!
PARTNERS IN WINE!

Trafalgar Theatres recently sent representatives from each venue to a Level Two Wine Training course hosted by the G Live team in Guildford. This was accredited by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and conducted in partnership with our suppliers.
The three-day learning opportunity supports Trafalgar’s continuous personal development of our teams with the course allowing them to demonstrate an understanding of different grapes, regions and how wines react when eaten with different foods.
The aim was to provide colleagues with the necessary skills and knowledge to assist customers with their wine choices, and enhance the customer experience in venues.
