A MASTERCLASS IN TECHNICAL SKILLS
The Technical Team at Wycombe Swan held a three-day Technical Masterclass course last month.
Participants were given a full backstage tour of the venue, introduced to the structure of production teams, flying scenery, lighting, sound and light show creation, stage management, sound, and pyrotechnics.
The Technical Masterclass was led by The Swan’s in-house technical team, as well as the Theatre Administrator – Andy Grange, and Hospitality General Manager – Rob Carr, who were able to show off their technical knowledge and experience by aiding with lighting and stage management.
The course finished with a short showcase of the Sound and Lighting shows that were designed, created, and then operated by participants.
The Wycombe Swan Technical Team would like to extend their thanks to Imagine Theatre Company, its pantomime producers, who supplied the venue with additional QLAB machines for participants to use throughout the masterclass.
They also organised with TSL to loan the theatre the use of 8 VL2600 moving lights which were used in addition to the in-house rig and gave the participants the opportunity to work with some of the latest equipment available.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and plans are already in motion to host another technical based masterclass soon.
