HELLO AND WELCOME – NOVEMBER 2021
Welcome to the November edition of Ensemble. I hope you’re all keeping well.
As we fast approach the end of another year in the midst of the pandemic, I just wanted to take some time to reflect on how we as a company are continuing to cope with Covid and all the challenges it presents. From keeping shows on the road, adhering to the latest rules and regulations, rescheduling dates, refunding tickets or keeping customers safe in our venues. We have all played a part in successfully manoeuvring the chess pieces and keeping our businesses operable and viable during a second year of uncertainty.
Most recently, as we were planning for the live broadcast of The Rocky Horror Show in cinemas last week, we unfortunately had a terribly timed bout of Covid in the company which knocked out six members of the team. Thanks to a herculean effort from the understudies and the swings including the good fortune of having two members of the South African company in the UK by pure luck – we were able to get the show up and running in time for the live stream to nearly 500 cinemas on Thursday night. A huge team effort all round and a fantastic electric atmosphere in the audience and around the UK as five young understudies made their West End and cinema debuts at the same time.
So thank you to everyone for the part you all play. It’s your passion, hard work, adaptability and dedication that allows us to keep moving forward.
Next month, we look forward to our Christmas issue (it’s that time of year already?!) Until then, take care and look after yourselves.
Best wishes
Rosemary
