DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION DOWN UNDER
Trafalgar Releasing and More2Screen are distributing two classic titles to Australian cinemas this spring.
Trafalgar Theatre Productions’ (TTP) The King and I and Sonia Friedman Productions’ Uncle Vanya will hit cinemas Down Under in late March / early April, screening with Palace and Luna – the number one boutique chain in the country covering all major cities and states.
Trafalgar Releasing won a Screen Award for Event Cinema Campaign of the Year for TTP’s The King and I: From the London Palladium.
Starring Kelli O’Hara, Ken Watanabe and Ruthie Ann Miles, the much-loved production originally screened in 27 countries worldwide and became the number one UK theatre event of 2018.
Following a critically acclaimed opening in London, the 5-star Uncle Vanya, a new adaptation of the Anton Chekhov masterpiece directed by Ian Rickson and nominated for four Olivier Awards, was abruptly halted as the world went into lockdown.
Last August the company, including Toby Jones and Richard Armitage, overcame the considerable challenges of working in a global pandemic and returned to the Harold Pinter Theatre to film the ‘perfect’ (★★★★★ The Guardian) production.
Uncle Vanya will also receive other international screenings in India in March, plus Denmark and Canada in April.
