HOPES FOR 2021 – Part Two
More TE colleagues tell us what they hope 2021 has in store.
Martin Scorer – Trafalgar Theatre
Following a year that was so unrelentingly challenging for almost everyone I know – both professionally and personally – I hope that, at last, we see a return to stability in 2021 and a world where people can feel secure in their livelihoods and once again physically embrace the people they know and love.
Personally, I hope that the opening of the newly renovated Trafalgar Theatre brings much needed relief and joyful entertainment to all who work and visit there and that it goes on to make a valuable contribution to the revival of the West End. I very much look forward to the heartbeat of the theatre returning, as we recruit a new team to take us forward into the next chapter of this wonderful venue.
And finally, I hope that the baby my wife and I are expecting in a few months time arrives happy and healthy, and can look forward to a more optimistic future.

Ann Hovenden – TE Woking Head Office
As 2020 looked at my resolutions, laughed and threw them back I decided to keep them simple this year! I hope to end the year knowing more people than at the beginning – we just moved house to a new area and I would very much like to be able to meet our neighbours properly and have friends come for non socially-distanced visits. “Travel” seems optimistic so I would happily settle for being able to see all of my family in Ireland. Finally, I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed for being able to sit in a theatre again this year waiting for curtain up on a show – ideally a Trafalgar one!

Alexander Schmidt – TE The Strand
In common with all of us, my biggest hope is that I can sit once more in an auditorium as the lights go down, the audience falls silent and the orchestra starts to play the overture, hopefully from one of our productions! I am also hoping for a return to working in our offices – having had a few weeks before the latest lockdown in The Strand reminded me of the incredible talent that we have at Trafalgar, and I really miss the daily interactions in person (Teams / Zooms are a very poor substitute!)
