TRAFALGAR THEATRE PROGRESS REPORT

TE’s Project and Operations Manager, Emily O’Dell, updates Ensemble about the renovation work at our new flagship London venue, Trafalgar Theatre!

It’s certainly been a busy few months as work on the Trafalgar Theatre renovations gathers pace and we continue to transform the building back to the original look and style of the 1930’s.

The main demolition has happened and the old seats have been removed. So now, the Auditorium is all one space, with distinct Stalls and Circle with what will eventually be the balcony.

Lots of historic research has been done including paint scrapes which reveal the colour schemes in the building since it was built. The designs and paint choices for the theatre have been chosen and all the high level parts have been decorated. The ceiling and proscenium arch look absolutely beautiful.

Elsewhere, the basement is now fully waterproofed and this will become a large new crew room and the theatre has been fitted with a new roof so no more leaks! Outside, the canopy has been upgraded and our Jersey Boys posters will soon be on display. Work in the Foyer is also underway and things are coming together really nicely.

It’s an exciting time and I can’t wait for everyone to see the theatre when it opens!

Bye bye! The old auditorium seats have left the building!

I’m also sharing a bit of a FIRST LOOK with you all! An exclusive video of the auditorium carpet being made!
