EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: PAUL SCHRODER
Welcome to our monthly who’s who of Trafalgar Entertainment. This month we say hello to Paul Schroder!
Which room do you currently work in at home and what do you do?
I am the Group Finance Director, currently working from my bedroom window (see photo).

Describe yourself in 3 words!
Big haired Kiwi
Favourite stage production and why?
I really want to say something deep and inspiring here, but it’s the Book of Mormon. Never laughed so hard in my life!
Favourite album?
The Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, it was the first album I ever purchased (on tape!) and always brings back good memories, regardless of how depressing the title sounds.
Top 3 films of all time?
There are so many great films so this is difficult to answer. I am going to go with…
Classic: Top Gun
Comedy: Anchorman – The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Kiwi: Hunt for the Wilderpeople
Top tip for surviving lockdown?
It took me a while to adapt to the lockdown. It’s very easy for one day to merge into the next so the key for me has been keeping a routine. Following some good advice I now try to “walk to work” every day where I take a 20-30 minute walk every morning, get a coffee from a local cafe and walk back home ready to start the day. I have found it really helps and I have also found that a good bottle of red wine really helps as well.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
This is an upsetting question as I am meant to be on a beach in Mykonos this week! My favourite place I have ever been is the Palawan Islands in the Philippines. Sailing between the islands, sleeping on deserted beaches surrounded by breath-taking scenery & crystal clear waters full of sea life.
Your Greatest sporting achievement?
Normally just being selected was an achievement in itself! My father was a world champion at badminton so the first (and I think only) time I ever beat him was a pretty special day.
What’s your cooking masterpiece?
I do a pretty decent Greek barbecue (souvla). Lamb, chicken and pork on the rotating spit, perfectly marinated and cooked to perfection. Even some real Greeks have asked me what my secret is.
Biggest regret in life?
Not taking more risks. For example I am adamant I came up with the idea for Peloton years ago. I wanted to do the same thing in collaboration with Will.I.AM from the Black Eyed Peas and call it WILL.I.RIDE. Oh well, who needs the millions….back to my spreadsheets!
Who is your hero and why?
Michael Jordan. The man is the GOAT and the ultimate competitor. He is known mainly as a sportsman but he is also an amazing businessman who has built a multi-billion dollar empire. If you haven’t watched The Last Dance on Netflix during lockdown, watch it!
