EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: DAVID BELL
Welcome to our monthly who’s who of Trafalgar Entertainment. This month we say hello to David Bell!
Where do you work and what do you do?
I work in Finance as Finance Manager, based in Woking (1 day a week in London) with responsibility for Luke Shires Marketing Ltd and Jonathan Church Theatre Productions Ltd. I am currently working across all business units managing the implementation of the new Finance System Sage X3. I work with a great bunch of people and each day brings a new challenge.
Describe yourself in 3 words!
Witty, Organised, Ambitious
Favourite stage production and why?
Les Miserables – It was the first big show I saw when I was young and also the first show to work on as an ASM. Every aspect of the production is amazing and I could watch again and again…
Favourite song?
You’re My World by Cilla Back and then covered by Jane McDonald.
Top 3 films?
Towering Inferno – first disaster movie I watched and I just love it.
Dolores Claiborne – Kathy Bates is just brilliant.
Carry On Camping – classic old fashioned humour.
Top 3 dinner party guests (alive or dead) and why?
Jane McDonald – so cheesy but made a great name for herself and she would have some great stories.
Dick Emery – he was such a great comedian.
Julie Walters – so talented and I could talk to her for hours about her time with Victoria Wood.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Greek Island of Lemnos – small quiet island with great restaurants, views and cycling. However, I have recently discovered Cruise Holidays so I can say I am officially getting older.
Your greatest sporting achievement?
I don’t consider myself a sportsman (hated at school) but have completed Tough Mudder and love spinning classes with a passion. I did qualify in Exercise to Music and am a qualified Body Attack instructor but the trainers were hung up years ago.
How do you spend your weekends?
If we are not walking our pet Chihuahua (Betty) then normally at a spin class or visiting a show at Theatre Royal Brighton/South East/West End.
Biggest regret in life?
No regrets at all with life/career choices but I do wish when I went to work abroad back in the early 2000s I should have rented my flat and not sold out. I would now be a lot better off!!
Any New Year’s resolutions?
Simply to relax more and not plan something in for every weekend.
Who is your hero and why?
The Queen Mother – she drank Martini, Gin and Champagne every day and lived to 101.
