Last month, Trafalgar Entertainment was delighted to announce its acquisition of the London Theatre Company (LTC).  The deal included The Bridge Theatre – one of London’s most distinctive theatres – and a King’s Cross venue which hosts immersive entertainment business, Lightroom – plus subsidiary companies.

LTC, established 2017 by Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr following their 12-year tenure at the National Theatre, opened The Bridge Theatre in October of the same year.  The venue was the first new theatre of scale to be built in central London at the time.

Through the acquisition, Trafalgar aims to continue to grow the scale, reach and ambition of the London theatre scene – and to create the next evolution of The Bridge as a hugely important cultural landmark in the UK capital.

The Oresteia Earns Rapturous Reception at Bridge Theatre Press Night

There was a real sense of excitement at the Bridge Theatre last week as The Oresteia officially welcomed critics for its press night.

Simon Stone’s bold new adaptation of the Greek tragedy has been met with widespread acclaim, earning a remarkable collection of four and five-star reviews from across the national and theatre press. Among the standout notices were five-star reviews from The Standard, London Box Office, The Reviews Hub, London Theatre Magazine, Morning Star and London Unattached, with critics praising the production’s ambition, emotional power and striking contemporary vision.

The praise continued with strong four-star reviews from WhatsOnStage, The Independent, Time Out, West End Best Friend and the Financial Times, cementing The Oresteia as one of the must-see productions of the summer.

Critics have highlighted everything from Stone’s thrilling reimagining of the ancient text to the production’s scale, intensity and powerhouse performances. The early response suggests that the production has not only connected with audiences but has also established itself as a major cultural event.

Respected critic Fiona Mountford took to social media to describe the production as “an evening of eviscerating theatrical brilliance. Quite simply phenomenal. One of the cultural events of the year.”
