EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: ZAC BUSH

Where do you work and what do you do?
Hello from Oz! I am the Venue Operations Manager at Theatre Royal Sydney.

My role is to empower our venue team to ensure our patrons have an enjoyable, well informed, safe experience – preferably with a cocktail (or mocktail) in hand! I also strive to keep our employees innovative and sales focused, and to ensure our production and event clients are well supported and keen to return in future.

Describe yourself in 3 words!
Love to learn.

Favourite stage production and why?
Cabaret. No explanation needed.

Favourite albums?

Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, by David Bowie – perfect.

Anything Wolf Alice, Pulp, Blur, Beatles or Talking Heads and the Very Best of Crowded House are also up there.

Also vibing Chappell Roan and Doechii of late.

Best ever gig and why?
Roskilde Festival 2014 – Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Stevie Wonder, Damon Albarn, over seven days of festival-ing in Denmark.

Top 3 films of all time?

Stop Making Sense – Talking Heads and Jonathan Demme (can you believe he made Silence of the Lambs too?)

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) – It’s Gene Wilder. Charlie Bucket was my first role on stage too!

Cold War – Paweł Pawlikowski or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid – Vale Robert Redford.

What’s go to TV binge boxset?
This is impossible, so I’ll just say I am digging Slow Horses right now.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
A trip home to Newcastle (Australia) always helps me reset, but definitely London too – you can’t be bored in that city.

Your Greatest sporting achievement?
I played Rugby 7’s for the Netherlands and I still can’t speak a lick of Dutch.

Who is your hero and why?
My parents. And Jurgen Klopp – I fear I have unwisely revealed my allegiance to the UK Traf Team with that response.

What is your cooking masterpiece?
Nothing I cook can be considered a masterpiece, but boy am I great at washing up.
