EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: SIRA CHAN
Where do you work and what do you do?
On Mondays, I am based on the 4th floor of the Strand office, and from Tuesday to Friday, you can find me on the 12th floor of our Woking office, working for TE as Business Support Executive.
Describe yourself in 3 words!
Organised, helpful, and courteous.
Favourite stage production and why?
My favourite stage production must be Spirited Away. It has always been one of my favourite films.
Before attending the show at the London Coliseum, I had watched the production on DVD twice, featuring different casts including Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi, following its initial release in Japan. I thought I might never get the chance to see it live. Fortunately, the production made its way to London, and I was able to attend their very last show there. Although I had already seen it on DVD, experiencing it in person was utterly different. The performance was exceptionally well executed, and Mone Kamishiraishi, in particular, played her role superbly. In that moment, I felt as though I was transported into the world of the characters. Unsurprisingly, I was moved to tears.
Favourite album?
Choosing a favourite album is always challenging, but if I had to pick, it would probably be ‘Never Grow Up’ by CHANMINA. It might not always be at the forefront of my thoughts, but it’s a constant presence on my playlist.
Best ever gig?
I’ve actually never been to a concert or live show! It’s always been a case of not being able to get a ticket!
Top 3 films of all time?
My top three films of all time would have to be:
1. Spirited Away – This film holds the top spot on my list. Can you believe I persuaded my parents to watch it with me three times in a row in different languages—English, Japanese, and Cantonese—every night when I was a child?
2. Finding Nemo
3. A Bug’s Life – This was a childhood favourite of mine. A little story behind this movie: my dad bought me the DVD and told me it was only available in English. It wasn’t until earlier this year that I discovered he lied, and there actually is a version in my mother tongue!

What’s your go to TV binge boxset?
Phineas and Ferb or Modern Family.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
My favourite holiday destination has to be Japan. Although it is a very long distance to travel, the country offers everything I adore: my favourite food, onsens, and exceptional sightseeing spots. Plus, as you might infer from my previous answers, I am a big fan of both Ghibli and Disney. Remarkably, Japan got both Ghibli Park and Disneyland, combining all my interests in one fantastic location!
Your Greatest sporting achievement?
Achieved Grade 8 in ballet when I was year 7. I still have a passion for dance, but I chose not to pursue it professionally after achieving Grade 8, as I didn’t feel I excelled in it. However, I have recently started attending a general ballet class once a week.
What’s your cooking masterpiece?
The height of my culinary skills is probably: cucumber dipped in wasabi and soy sauce.
Who is your hero and why?
My hero is, without a doubt, my dad. He is always well-prepared and organised. I believe I inherited my organisational skills from him. He constantly encourages me to follow my dreams, providing unwavering support and always striving to be his best. I fondly remember my childhood, when he would take me on weekend trips to Japan. We visited enchanting places like Sanrio Land and engaged in what he might’ve considered ‘childish’ activities, all for my enjoyment. He also introduced me to the magical world of theatre, taking me to see a variety of shows from ‘Cats’ to ‘The Nutcracker’. His willingness to explore my interests has left a lasting impression on me.
