Welcome to the June 2024 edition of Ensemble, and a very Happy Pride Month. 

It’s been a busy summer across the business, with production announcements, conferences, news stories, and building updates.

It was curtain up on our magnificent summer production of Kiss Me, Kate, in partnership with the Barbican, with a glamourous gala night and fabulous reviews. And there was an overwhelming response following the announcement of our new production of The Duchess starring Jodie Whittaker, set to open at Trafalgar Theatre this autumn.

Andy Knights and the Stagecoach team delivered another hugely successful annual conference last week, with guests and franchisees flying in from around the world.

We’re delighted with the news that G Live will remain part of the Trafalgar family, with Guildford Borough Council awarding Trafalgar Theatres the contract to operate the venue for the next 25 years. Congratulations to the project team who led on our bid.

Meanwhile, contractors working at the Orchard Theatre have confirmed that whilst RAAC roof replacement works are progressing well, the sequencing of the roof replacement, reinstatement of the venue’s technical equipment and the completion of wider works to improve audience experience means that the Orchard Theatre will not reopen for shows until early 2025.

Until that time, Orchard West will remain open to maintain cultural and entertainment provision; to support local businesses who rely on the footfall generated, and to sustain our talented team through to the Orchard’s reopening. You can read the full statement from Trafalgar Theatres here:
