EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: RHYS WAHINYA
Where do you work and what do you do?
I work as part of Finance team dealing with the various theatre venues and I work as a finance assistant. My work essentially ties up the process of cash at the venues to the physical cash received in the bank and helps to establish that finances are sitting in the right places.
Describe yourself in 3 words!
Variety, Friendly, Foodie
Favourite stage production and why?
My favourite stage production from recent memory is The Book of Mormon, it had me crying with laughter. But in a very close second I really enjoy a good old pantomime, my favourite part is the audience involvement, it really is a beautiful thing.
Favourite album?
Ooo this is a tough one, because I go through stages of various music. Presently the one that comes to mind is High Times by the band Jamiroquai. I’m not impartial to a bit of acid jazz. Plus this was actually the first album I ever purchased instead of the random array of singular purchased songs.
Best ever gig?
A little confession… I’ve never been to one!
Top 3 films of all time?
A Very tough one! I’ll have to split it up into genres! Superbad, Forrest Gump, and The Matrix.
What’s your go to TV binge boxset?
If I said anything but The X Files, I would be lying. But definitely X-Files seasons 1-8. Are we alone out there?
Favourite holiday destination and why?
It has to be Pompei in Italy. Especially during the beginning of summer. The weather, accompanied by the incredible beaches and the convenience to travel by ferry to neighbouring islands. Ahh nothing like it.
Your Greatest sporting achievement?
I was initially going to say my first front flip on ground outside, but if I think back to something that somewhat shaped me, it was when I was 11 years old and was playing football. I was put in goal, as no one does, but I thought why not. I saved a shot taken by the opposing team, but in the process, the force caused me to sprain my wrist. I was in agony, and couldn’t think straight whatsoever. But I continued the game, and somehow, through a miracle, scored two goals that day.
What’s your cooking masterpiece?
It has to be my pancakes. A tried and tested method with no real recipe, but feel free to ask me and I’ll talk you through what I do.
Who is your hero and why?
I’ll say my Mum. I look up to her a lot and appreciate all she has done to bring me here. Quite literally would not be here without her.
