FAREHAM LIVE UPDATE

The Trafalgar Theatres team recently visited the site of our new venue Fareham Live, currently under construction on the grounds of Ferneham Hall. Trafalgar Theatres was awarded the contract to operate Fareham Live by Fareham Borough Council in June. The venue will launch as an all-new facility in 2024 as part of the council’s multi-million-pound plans to redevelop the civic quarter and regenerate the Town Centre.

In other Fareham Live news, Fareham Borough Council has commissioned ‘A Wave of Thanks’, a permanent and bespoke piece of wall art for the foyer. Individuals, community groups, organisations, clubs and businesses will have a rare opportunity to become part of the building’s history by sponsoring their own small piece of this unique artwork.

‘A Wave of Thanks’ will be made up of coloured bars, which will be inscribed with the name of the sponsor.  These engraved bars will be used to create a ‘sound wave’ design, depicting both the audio and visual spectacle that Fareham Live will provide.

The Council has also released an exclusive virtual tour video that gives an artist’s impression of how the venue will look once it is finished. The video includes a look round the interior areas, such as the main auditorium, community studio spaces, the café and bar areas. Take the tour below!

An impressive array of accessible features which will soon help to welcome residents and performers with disabilities to Fareham Live have also been announced, including:

  • A platform lift to the main auditorium stage
  • An accessible lift to all public areas
  • Accessible performers’ dressing rooms
  • Fully accessible Changing Places Toilet
  • Disabled toilets
  • Disabled seating at various levels within the main auditorium
  • Low level counters at the Box Office and bar
  • Disabled parking

And finally, the Council has announced some of the ways in which Fareham Live will be reducing its carbon footprint to become a ‘green’ venue for the future, including the installation of 18 photo voltaic (solar) panels on the roof of the Flytower, and four Air Source Heat Pumps to provide the heating and ventilation. In addition, the building fabric has been upgraded to improve the insulation and reduce the demand for heating and cooling.
