EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: KAY HADLEY

This month, we shine a spotlight on Kay Hadley!

Where do you work and what do you do?
I work at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, as Venue Marketing Executive. I promote all things Orchard, from our Summer Youth Project, Dartford Pride, in-house hospitality and community events, as well as working with the Campaigns team to promote shows on the group through press, print and local connections. It’s a varied role that gets me involved in everything from dressing up as a Heather for press night, handing out sweets at local events, to securing sponsorships and networking with local business partners.

Describe yourself in 3 words!
Hyper-organised, funny and chill.

Favourite stage production and why?
HAIR – It’s a bit different, but I’m a hippie at heart and I love the soundtrack. Other faves include Heathers, Book of Mormon and Groundhog Day.

Favourite album?
Greta Van Fleet’s Battle at Garden’s Gate

Best ever gig?
My best ever gig WILL be Greta Van Fleet’s Starcatcher Tour at Wembley Arena this November. I’m beyond excited it’s sad.

Top 3 films of all time?
Kill Bill, Jaws and Clueless (how’s that for variety?)

What’s your go to TV binge boxset?
The Walking Dead

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Japan – I spent 3 weeks traveling through Japan by train. It’s such an exciting culture that ranges from bustling neon Tokyo with fascinating fashions, insane skyscrapers and a vending machine for everything! To the quiet wooden temples and secret streets of Kyoto. There are so many layers and traditions to discover, and festivals all year round.

Your Greatest sporting achievement?
I’ve only got into fitness since lockdown, during which time I lost a lot of weight and started running, swimming, and going to karate. The first time I could run a 5k was a big achievement for someone who couldn’t run 5 minutes before!

What’s your cooking masterpiece?

I’m a vegan so love finding tasty ways to make meat-free meals. I think my best dishes are Paella, mushroom, cider and sausage pie and a cauliflower curry.

Who is your hero and why?
Jeff Goldblum – he’s just a great human, always lovely, positive, colourful and kind. I’ve seen him play with his Jazz band twice and I’ve never been more entertained!
