WELCOME – JUNE 2023

Dear All,

Welcome to the June edition of Ensemble. And a very Happy Pride month! What better way to celebrate Pride than with a big 50th Birthday bash for The Rocky Horror Show, the opening of our brand new summer show, A Strange Loop, and lots of exciting Pride events happening across the Group. You’ll find all these things and more in this month’s newsletter.

The other week, Howard, Helen, Andrew and I, had the pleasure of attending the Australian Premiere of TINA: The Tina Turner Musical at Theatre Royal Sydney as part of a business trip. The show was truly spectacular, and on reflection, hugely poignant, given the recent sad news about Tina’s passing.

It was so lovely to spend time with Tim, Allie, Houri and all of the team there, so many thanks to them all for looking after us and making us feel so welcome.

Whilst on my overseas trip, I was also fortunate to attend the first night of The Rocky Horror Show with Jason Donovan in Melbourne. It was stunning, and Jason was brilliant in the role. I’m now looking forward to seeing it at the newly refurbished Hall for Cornwall on its actual 50th anniversary in a couple of weeks time. Helen went along to the Gala performance in London recently and said the show was a real credit to the team who maintain it. And I couldn’t agree more. We are very lucky to have Rocky in our production canon.

There is something very special about The Rocky Horror Show. It’s a unique live experience, a fan favourite, and one that is hugely entertaining, lots of fun and comes complete with a fierce following. As we celebrate its 50th year, we should note the exceptional quality of the show, not just in the UK and Australia, but around the world. Rocky is showing no signs of slowing down!

In other Australian news, we are prioritising securing new venues in the country with Melbourne top of the list, and other regional venues too, as well as growing our production activity there. Stagecoach are also prioritising Australia for International growth, with a campaign of activity starting June and the team attending a franchise Expo in August.

Lots of exciting opportunities await, and this is just the beginning.

Until next time, take care of yourselves.
Best wishes,
Rosemary
