TOTALLY DOUGHLICIOUS TREATS AT THE TRAF!
Nothing beats the smell of freshly baked cookies — well, that is, other than actually biting into a warm cookie while enjoying Jersey Boys at Trafalgar Theatre.
This weekend, the West End is about to get a whole lot more Doughlicious!
Famous for its award-winning “I can’t believe it’s gluten-free cookie dough” and better-for-you spin on classic American-style confections, Doughlicious is officially launching in Trafalgar Theatre this month, serving up New York style warm and ready to enjoy cookies.
Mmmmm, so what’s that smell wafting through Front of House during the interval? Likely the vegan, O.G. Chocolate Chip, a soft-baked chocolate chip cookie stuffed with dark chocolate chips. Also on the menu is The Blondie, an elevated soft-baked sugar cookie with the perfect pairing of vanilla, caramel, and white miso undertones.
So remember to pick up a doughlicious treat on your next trip to The Traf!

THE ORCHARD’S UKULELE CLUB

In 2018, the Orchard Theatre in Dartford received £1,000 from the Lottery funded Dartford Big Local to fund the purchase of 30 ukuleles, 30 stands and payment for a ukulele teacher to teach a 6 week course. This initial project has now turned into a weekly ukulele group with over 75 members who meet every Thursday at The Orchard.
The club also has occasional visits from ukulele players at its termly Jam Sessions where people are encouraged to play along and take to the mic in either groups or as soloists. The club has played all over Dartford and surrounding areas, taking regular slots at the Christmas Lights Switch On and various charity events. The group have also organised trips to support fellow ukulele artists at gigs and have seen the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain play at both the Orchard and Churchill theatres.
They are currently working on the first Dartford Ukulele Festival which will hopefully be supported by local council funding.

EVENT SUCCESS AT CLIFFS PAVILION

On the 26 and 27 April, a large corporate event took place at the Cliffs Pavilion Southend for Olympus. Over 800 candidates attended and the event generated over £80k revenue.
This event was booked by the Events Central Team and successfully carried out in collaboration with colleagues at The Cliffs.

LATE NIGHT LIBRARY

The Churchill Theatre is working in partnership with the council on BR1 LATES and High Street Fest – two initiatives funded by the GLA High Streets for All Projects. Bromley is one of three new GLA funded Night Time Enterprise Zones.

The first BR1 LATES event was Library Lates on 27 April. The adjoining doors were opened up between the library and theatre with over 3,000 people enjoying Kate Lawler’s silent disco and the bar in the main theatre foyer, and live music, cocktail making and pop up stalls in the library.
With a very healthy bar take, and fantastic turnout, this was a good example of local collaboration to encourage residents to think of Bromley town centre when looking for a night out. And the bunting was up on Coronation Day for the opening night of Greatest Days.

BABY NEWS!
And finally, huge congratulations to Lorna Strawson, our Theatre Director at The Orchard Theatre in Dartford, who welcomed her new baby – Coral Jeane Strawson – into the world on Thursday (weighing in at 7lb 12oz)!
