CELEBRITY PRODUCERS ANNOUNCED FOR A STRANGE LOOP!

A Strange Loop making its way to London’s Barbican Theatre for a limited 12-week season (from 17 June) and it’s bringing some serious star power with it! Household names such as Alan CummingIlana GlazerJennifer HudsonMindy Kaling and Billy Porter are joining forces once again to co-produce the smash-hit musical that took New York by storm in 2022/23 – and went on to win both the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award

Michael R. Jackson‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, A Strange Loop, has received 11 Tony Award nominations and won every Best Musical award in New York. The show follows Usher, a young, Black, gay writer who despises his day job and decides to create a musical about a young, gay, Black writer who is also composing a musical about a young, gay, Black writer. Through this meta-narrative, Usher grapples with his conflicting desires, identity and instincts, which are humorously portrayed by a candid ensemble cast.

Theatre, television and film actor Alan Cumming feels “honoured to be part of this big, Black, queer-ass, musical.” Comedian, director, writer and actress Ilana Glazer is “thrilled to be producing A Strange Loop in London, a musical that celebrates the beauty and complexity of being human.”

Legendary actor and singer-songwriter Jennifer Hudson calls A Strange Loop “a masterpiece that deserves to be experienced by audiences everywhere,” while Mindy Kaling, Emmy-nominated writer, producer, actor, and New York Times bestselling author calls it “a breakthrough masterpiece that will leave you both laughing and crying.”

THE KING AND I SET TO TRANSFER TO LONDON’S DOMINION THEATRE IN 2024

TE’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s timeless, golden-age classic The King and I is transferring to London’s Dominion Theatre! Headed by Call the Midwife star Helen George, alongside Darren Lee as The King of Siam, this multi-award-winning production has already captured the hearts of audiences across the UK and will commence its West End performances on 20 January 2024! In this stunning story of East meets West, a world of tradition, love and politics awaits.

TOUR CAST REVEALED FOR 42ND STREET!

Casting has been announced for the UK tour of smash-hit musical 42nd Street which is directed by Jonathan Church.

Samantha Womack will star as Dorothy Brock, alongside Michael Praed as Julian Marsh, Faye Tozer as Maggie Jones, Les Dennis as Bert Barry and previously announced Nicole-Lily Baisden as Peggy Sawyer.

Samantha Womack most recently starred as the White Witch in the acclaimed production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at the Gillian Lynne Theatre. 

42nd Street is a timeless and inspiring showbiz fairy tale that combines breath-taking tap dance routines, backstage intrigue, classic romance and delightful comedy to dazzling effect. The show will open at the Curve in Leicester on 17 May 2023 followed by a summer season at Sadler’s Wells in London and then a nationwide tour.

West End stars Ruthie Henshall and Adam Garcia will play Dorothy Brock and Julian Marsh at Curve and Sadler’s Wells performances only.
