AN AWAY DAY OF EXCELLENCE!

Colleagues from across Trafalgar Entertainment came together last month for the annual Management Away Day at G Live in Guildford, with the theme of Living our Values – Excellence.

Rosemary and Howard gave the opening address before welcoming Stuart Mathieson – Managing Director, Barings Capital Solutions, and a member of our Board – to the stage for the keynote speech.

Helen Enright and Alexander Schmidt delivered a business overview with highlights from the past year and a look ahead to TE’s ambitions for 2023 and beyond including further expansion in Australia and plans to grow the venue portfolio in the UK and Europe.

Dean Marriner followed with an update on our Learning Management System, Stage to Excellence, and Liam Oakley gave a presentation on Tixly, one of the world’s fastest growing event ticketing software companies and soon to be rolled out across Trafalgar.

The afternoon presentations focussed on one of TE’s core values – Excellence, kicking off with Mike Matthews and Emily Cecil Dennett giving a mind-boggling insight into how Trafalgar Releasing executive produced and distributed Coldplay’s Live Broadcast from Buenos Aires concert in truly spectacular fashion. The audience were then treated to a performance of A Skyfull of Stars from the global event.

Later, Chris McGuigan and Alvin Hargreaves took to the stage to demonstrate how excellence is being delivered every day through our dedicated venue teams at Trafalgar Theatres, Dr Alison Daubey spoke about how our core values are reflected in The Stagecoach Way, and Steve Sergeant, Theatre Director at The Beck, gave an inspiring talk about how Equality, Diversity and Inclusion had transformed the fortunes of his venue.

Fun and games prevailed post dinner, with two hours of Taskmaster style games to challenge teammates. The stakes were high with competitiveness levels through the roof!

The evening’s entertainment was compered by Rocky Horror star Ore Oduba who introduced Stagecoach Students performing a medley of songs from Anything Goes, alongside West End star Kerry Ellis, who performed I Get a Kick Out of You.

Ore rallied the audience for one final performance, a rousing rendition of Time Warp, and with that, everyone was on their feet… “It’s just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right…!”
