SWINDON STAFF SEND AID TO UKRAINE

Staff at the Wyvern Theatre & Swindon Arts Centre have donated goods to the Swindon Humanitarian Aid Partnership.

So far, the Partnership has shipped over 80 tonnes of aid to the front lines in Ukraine and to refugees living in Swindon.

Following the closure of the theatre’s restaurant, staff were able to donate 20 kilos of tinned food, nearly 1000 plates and bowls, over 100 glasses, two microwaves, and several chairs.

With the leftover swap shop items and lost property, staff have also given a large amount of clothes, hats, gloves, bottles, and books!

Big thanks to Steven, Adam, Heather, Kate, Sophie, Jaime, Emily, and Catherine for their help hauling it all down!

The venues will also be having a candle and clothes collection point, opening on the evening of the Ukrainian National Opera’s production of Carmen in April.

Old and new candles will be collected and then melted down and moulded into new candles in the Ukrainian flag colours (above), which will then be sold in the venues. Other candles will be made into ‘Trench Candles’ which will go to Ukraine to ‘heat soup and keep toes warm’.
